Friday Dinner Date 🍕

Friday night dinner date with my boys. Every once in a while I’ll try to do something fun to change things up from the usual so the kids don’t get bored with what I’m trying to feed them. So, years ago when I first married my husband I was trying to figure out the while housewife bit and my sister helped me out with different dinner ideas. This was one of the simplest and most liked out of the bunch. Pepperoni pizza subs. Who would’ve known? So if you’re looking for something easy and fun, try out this recipe!

Pepperoni  Pizza Subs
– any kind of sub bread (I used HEB ready to bake french bread rolls and cut them in half)
– mozzarella cheese, shredded
– sliced Pepperoni (or any meat you like! )
– any kind of pizza sauce
– Italian dressing

Directions : Preheat oven to 375°f. Grab a baking pan and all of your ingredients. Starting with your bread, lay it open and spread the pizza sauce on both inner sides of the sub. Layer the shredded mozzarella cheese on the bottom then stack the Pepperoni slices on top. On top of the slices I put a little squirt of Italian dressing and close it up.  By now the oven should be done preheating.  Place on the middle rack and bake for 10-12 mins.

Travel Thursday

So today I wasn’t able to dish out a new Travel Thursday, the boys just were NOT having it. However, fresh start and new material will be on the page tomorrow. In the mean time, take a look at last week’s Travel Thursday destination if you haven’t already. For now, it’s Christian Grey and oreos for this tired mama.

Historical Wednesday- Barbie’s Debut

image

In 1959, a beautiful blonde with a closet of clothes to die for hit the shelves for the first time on this day.  We all know her as Barbie.

image

Originally, she came with blonde hair and red lips but since then has her style has varied and gotten more global.  After Barbie made her debut,  Ken, their dog and Barbie’s little sister Skipper joined the picture shortly after.

image

Not one to stray from controversy,  Barbie has been at the top of the list for many debates mainly for her size.  When you look at Barbie you can clearly see that her dimensions are not that I’d a typical women but rather of a fantasy pin up. I know however that when I was a young girl playing with all of my dolls that her size was the last thing I noticed but my experience might not have been like everyone else’s.

image

Today,  Barbie has made some radical changes to her design and accommodates many more sizes and shapes,  as well as colors.  The change was definitely a big achievement for all the Barbie doll lovers of the world. Over time,  Barbie has become the epitome of a global style icon.

Salem, Massachusetts.
Birthplace of witches and definitely top 5 on my travel destinations bucket list.

Founded in 1626 by Roger Conant, it was the center of puritanism in America. However, Salem is most famously known for the Salem witch trials. The trials began in the spring of 1692 when a wave of hysteria swept through the town after a group of young girls claimed they had been possessed by the devil and accused some of the women in the town of witchcraft. Bridget Bishop would be hanged that June and 18 others followed her same fate in the Salem gallows. Over the course of the next several months over 150 men, women and children would be accused of witchcraft. By September of 1692, the hysteria started to subside and the public opinion turned against it. The town never fully recovered from the tragedy of the trials. Arthur Miller would later dramatize the events in his play called The Crucible (1953). There’s also a more recent version that stars Winona Ryder and the magnificent Daniel Day-Lewis  (1996).

Today, the town has become a big tourist attraction especially around Halloween. There are several museums and memorials that you’re able to visit along with the last remaining original tie to the Salem witch trials known as the “Witch House”, the former home of Judge Johnathan Corwin.

Sunday Glam!

image

As every southern girl knows, when you live in Texas you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get when you step out of your front door. Nothing is more irritating than wearing your new pair of super cute shorts and freezing your butt off because you weren’t ready for the surprise cool front that blew in this afternoon.  So what do we do?  We layer!  Personally as a new mom.. well semi new, I’m still trying to perfect my mom style and step away from my single, party girl style. I still want to be cute but classic at the same time. When I saw this outfit, I immediately fell in love. The neutral tones of the outfit, the sheer polka dot top and clutch are all fantastic. Also, a great pair of jeans is any girl’s best friend along with the right pair of heels. Simply switching up the pullover to a brighter color could easily give it that pop you’re looking for as well. Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day. Happy Sunday everyone!

The Neverending Laundry Story

Good morning!

As I’m sitting here drinking my cup of caramel coffee and watching the boys eat their breakfast, I can’t seem to get my mind off of the annoying laundry pile that is staring me in the face. I know I’m the only woman in my family of four but I seem to make the least amount of dirty clothes in the bunch! Which is a fact I’m actually quite proud of. So, being the lover of Pinterest that I am I sought out a solution to help always having a pile of clothes hanging out in my laundry room. I found many posts with different sets of tips that seemed logical but never quite stuck with me. Until I came across one pin that I thought,”Hey this could actually work for my family”!

http://www.earlybirdmom.com/blog/2013/04/laundry-system/#_a5y_p=4033934

Since we just moved into our new humble abode, I’m still in transition of putting this strategy into effect but I can’t wait to see the results. If your house is anything like mine and you’re constantly struggling with keeping your head above the laundry pile, give this strategy a try! Happy laundry day! 🙂

Talk about gorgeous style!

I love everything about this outfit. The colors, the scarf, her platinum hair and can’t forget the combination of jewelry. I found this gem on aspoonfulofstyle.com and thought I just had to share it with all of you. This is definitely an outfit that I would love to have in my closet!
